Community Award Fine Tunes Pleasley Colliery Welfare Band

The Mansfield Building Society has given an award of £500 to Pleasley Colliery Welfare Band towards the cost of purchasing tuition books and items of equipment.

The funds were awarded as part of The Mansfield’s Community Support Scheme. The brass band support the enjoyment of playing music by providing the opportunity to learn to play and perform in concerts and events.  

Linda Clarke of Pleasley Colliery Welfare Band said, “We are grateful to The Mansfield as these funds will help this newly formed venture continue.”

The Mansfield’s Branch Supervisor, Nicola Arnold said, “These types of bands are an important part of our local identity and heritage. Live music also offers performers and spectators a great deal of pleasure as part of a common experience.

We're glad to help and wish Pleasley Colliery Welfare Band well for their future activities.”
