Retirement Branch Focus Day, 9 September 2016
On Friday 9 September 2016, Mansfield Building Society will be hosting a focus day for people approaching retirement or in retirement at its branches in Mansfield, Chesterfield, Sutton and Kirkby*.
The aim of the focus day is to raise awareness of The Mansfield’s financial services and encourage more people to think about taking control of their financial planning as they approach retirement.
Not only are people expecting to live longer, people are also demanding more from the types of financial services available to support their lifestyles.
An area of focus for lenders in 2016 so far has been mortgage lending into retirement, with the Building Societies Association (BSA) launching a guide aimed at giving older borrowers the facts and information they need. Visitors attending the focus day will be able to pick up a copy of the guide and talk to advisers about the Mansfield’s approach to lending into retirement.
On the focus day, the Society will also be formally launching a partnership with Dignity Caring Funeral Services, one of the UK’s leading funeral plan providers, to offer a flexible range of prepaid funeral plans.
People with pension plans and savings accounts may want to consider what type of investment opportunities are available. As well as a variety of savings accounts, The Mansfield offers a referral service to local independent financial adviser, R A Cowen and Partners, who provide tailored investment and financial planning advice.
Mansfield Building Society's Area Operations Manager, Tara Nicholson, said that the Society has a lot to offer and people should start making plans as they approach retirement and beyond:
“We would all like to think that retirement will offer us the freedom to enjoy our leisure. Through our working lives, we should plan for all the great things that retirement may offer. Planning for the future and fully understanding what options are available will allow people to take control.
As an independent building society, we’re looking forward to speaking with local people to find out their needs and raise awareness of the benefits of financial planning to support their retirement.”
*For the Retirement Focus Day, Mansfield, Chesterfield and Sutton branches will be open from 9.00am to 5pm with Kirkby open from 10am to 2pm.
