£500k programme of investment in Mansfield town centre completed with Head Office refurbishment
Colleagues will be welcomed back to our Head Office following a refurbishment of our Mansfield based headquarters.
The investment in our HQ follows similar investment in new branch premises located in the heart of the town’s historic Market Place – the new flagship branch opened its doors to customers in July 2020 to subdued elation as the Coronavirus pandemic continued to paralyse much of the UK.
The subsequent refurbishment of our Head Office sees the conversion of our former branch premise into a modern, accessible, open plan mortgage processing centre, demonstrating our commitment to the town in which we were founded over 150 years ago. The combined investment in both premises has been £500,000.
Mansfield Mayor, Andy Abrahams, was on hand to formally open the refurbished HQ alongside the Society’s Chief Executive, Paul Wheeler, and Board Chair, Alison Chmiel.
Paul Wheeler said the Coronavirus pandemic gave the us the opportunity to refurbish the Head Office whilst most colleagues were working from home. The refit will enable us to meet our ambitious growth plans whilst reinforcing our commitment to the community we have proudly served since 1870:
“Successive years of growth meant that we effectively outgrew our premises. The new Market Place branch provided a golden opportunity to secure a prominent central location to better serve our members whilst freeing up space to support our continued growth.
The new open-plan mortgage processing centre enables us to meet our corporate objectives without compromising our commitment to Mansfield and the local community. The combination of our new Market Place branch and refurbished Head Office premises will play an integral part in delivering the Society’s continued success.”
Executive Mayor of Mansfield, Andy Abrahams, said: “I was delighted to open the refurbished Head Office of the Mansfield Building Society on Regent Street. The Society’s 150-year history makes it such a valued and trusted asset for our town with an outstanding commitment to serving the community.
“It’s brilliant that our local building society was able to use the pandemic lockdown as the perfect opportunity to expand. And it’s great that the Society is going from strength to strength in such a way that it now needs bigger premises. Where better to be placed than in the heart of the town centre.”
