Edingley’s Old Schoolroom finalise refurbishment

Edingley's Old Schoolroom have been awarded £500 from our Community Support Scheme to help fund a kitchen and renovation.

The Old Schoolroom is a local centre, offering local people with a place to meet and learn new skills. The venue also hosts regular coffee mornings and various events. Our donation has enabled The Old Schoolroom to put in the finishing touches to its refurbishment.

Edward Compton, Chairman of the Schoolroom Committee Board said “The local residents have worked very hard to raise the funds to renovate the centre. It’s wonderful to have businesses like The Mansfield that offer funding to organisations such as ourselves. Our aim was to fix up The Old Schoolroom and the £500 from the Society brought it all together in the final stages. The centre is an integral part of bringing people together in Edingley, it’s great to have the centre running again.”

Nicola Caulton, Branch and Community Development Manager at the Society, visited The Schoolroom and said “The refurbishment work and new kitchen look terrific and seeing so many local people out to support the grand re-opening has been inspiring. It is clear the centre is at the heart of the community here and I am proud to see how our Community Support Scheme has helped”.

Mansfield Building Society’s Community Support Scheme funds local groups and organisations in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and meets twice yearly in May and November to consider applications. To find out more or to download an application form click here.
