Mansfield Building Society choose Macmillan as Charity Partner
We are excited to announce Macmillan Cancer Support as our new official Charity Partner.
Over the next two years, we will be coordinating a range of fundraising initiatives together with volunteer work to support the activity of Macmillan in Mansfield, Ashfield and Chesterfield.
Macmillan estimate that by 2020 47% of people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. To put that in perspective, it’s potentially almost half of the Society’s employees and members. Its impact is huge, and growing.
Macmillan work not only with cancer patients by providing guidance, healthcare and financial support, but also those affected by cancer including family, carers and friends. It is a charity which has provided support and assistance to a huge number of people, with an aim of ‘ensuring no one faces cancer alone’ - one which resonates strongly with our staff.
After consideration of a number of local charities, all employees at the Society had the opportunity to vote for their preferred charity and Macmillan secured overwhelming support.
Cancer is something which affects, directly or indirectly, each of us in some way and this, coupled with the ability to ring fence funds for the benefit of the locality, played a big part in Macmillan being chosen as our Charity Partner.
We are currently developing a scheme of fundraising and volunteer work and we are likely to have some very exciting upcoming activities and events to announce soon.
Gev Lynott, Chief Executive at the Society said ‘We’re incredibly proud to announce that the Society has chosen to support Macmillan. The clear overwhelming support and commitment of staff demonstrates how strongly we feel about supporting those in our community affected by cancer.
We believe passionately in delivering a positive social impact through our business and we’re looking forward to supporting Macmillan in the coming years.”
