New Equipment for Woodhouse Colts Disability Team
The Mansfield Building Society has given an award of £500 to Woodhouse Colts Disability Football Team towards the cost of providing kit and equipment. The funds were awarded as part of The Mansfield’s Community Support Scheme.
Woodhouse Colts currently has two disabled teams and all work is done on a voluntary basis with donations received from fundraising projects throughout the year. This is the largest project of this kind in the region with over 50 children of mixed abilities.
Richard Weatherer, Woodhouse Colts Secretary & Development Officer says: “We are grateful to The Mansfield as these funds will help to keep the projects running. The sessions enable the players to continue to develop skills and receive a positive socially rewarding experience through team sport.”
The Mansfield’s Business Development Manager, Stuart Bryce said “We are delighted to help - this is a real benefit to our local community.
The recent success of the Paralympics has highlighted that disability should not lead to exclusion or a lack of ambition. The work of Woodhouse Colts not only enables disabled people to lead fulfilling lives but could also sow the seeds for a future Paralympic star.”
