Staff support Mansfield 10k and allow local charity to Reach a little further
As part of our commitment to supporting the local community, staff from the Society have volunteered at the Mansfield 10k and raised £150 to support the local charity organiser, Reach.
Mansfield 10k is a road race set through the historical town and after much success has become an annual competition that we are proud to support.
Staff were available on the day at water stations to support the runners and cheer on competitors and Marketing Manager, Dale Twigger, successfully completed the race on 21 August, raising £150 for Reach through donations from staff.
Reach is a Nottinghamshire based charity that aims to support adults with learning disabilities to become engaged members of their communities.
Through offering a wide number of courses, Reach allows adults to gain new skills, build confidence and self-esteem to get involved in community life. The charity has an outreach community centre in St John’s Street, Mansfield with sessions running from Monday to Friday, including singing, computers and cookery.
Marketing Manager, Dale Twigger, said that not only is the Society proud to support a major local event, he was delighted with the contribution to Reach:
“To see the staff give up their time voluntarily on a Sunday morning to support a key local event shows that they are committed to serving the community of Mansfield. I’m also happy to have supported Reach through fundraising in the race. Their focus on enabling and encouraging adults with learning disabilities through an individual approach is a worthy cause.”
